Late Night Opera was a commission and at the same time an experiment with form: what happens when opera does not begin at 7.30 in the big house, but late, small and close? Christoph Gützkow composed it and Martin Lühr wrote the libretto — a dystopian short opera set in a space capsule in the future. The premiere at 9 pm on 27 August 2022 was documented on three cameras.
In 2023 the piece returned under the baton of Niclas Tim Schröer and was invited as a guest performance to the Humane AI congress of the IPKG e. V. in Oldenburg. Supported by the CEWE Stiftung and the Gertrud und Hellmut Barthel Stiftung.
