New opera
Premieres, contemporary commissions and rare rediscoveries — from the region’s first Low German crime opera to children’s operas and the reconstruction of Baroque works.
International voices
Through our artist-in-residence programme, artists from abroad work in Oldenburg — the first residency grew into a collaboration reaching as far as Tallinn: premieres, workshops and performances with artists from the region.
Unexpected stages
We take opera out of the opera house — open air, in historic castles, churches, urban spaces and unusual venues that become part of the staging themselves.

View allLinie · Stimme · Farbe
Bärbel Hische's printmaking grows out of the line, transformed through pressure and colour into layered pictorial spaces. For one evening, "Linie · Druck · Farbe" became "Linie · Stimme · Farbe": women's voices from five centuries laid over one another — women composers long overshadowed by fathers, brothers and husbands, and songs that mourn, praise and celebrate women. From the Stabat Mater to Poppea's triumphant love duet, an arc of female experience — in the Elisabeth-Anna-Palais, itself named after a woman.
Dafne
Probably the first opera in the German language, in Roland Wilson's reconstruction: staged in the Schlosssaal of Oldenburg Castle on 11 and 12 October 2025 — the centrepiece of the Münstermann Festival and the association's first fully professional opera production.
