Bärbel Hische’s printmaking grows out of the line, transformed through pressure and colour into layered pictorial spaces. For one evening, “Linie · Druck · Farbe” became “Linie · Stimme · Farbe”: women’s voices from five centuries laid over one another — women composers long overshadowed by fathers, brothers and husbands, and songs that mourn, praise and celebrate women. From the Stabat Mater to Poppea’s triumphant love duet, an arc of female experience — in the Elisabeth-Anna-Palais, itself named after a woman.
